Will WidSets Work?

Lately, I've been hearing more about WidSets, a web-driven mobile app that lets users pick what kind of information is available on their phone on a regular basis. The key selling point of the software is its easy customizability, mimicking the Widgets system popularized on the web.
Personally, the small screen of smartphones and PDAs limits the possibilities of such a system. widsets addresses this issue somewhat by letting the user scroll through his WidSets "space," but the fact is that the user has to start a program to be able to access that. Perhaps the setup would be better if the customization happened on the gadget's home screen, though of course that limits the amount of information that can be displayed.
Another problem I have with WidSets is it's a danger for data plan owners. Avid users may end up maxing out their data plan, unless of course they're on unlimited contracts. To be fair though, this will be less of a problem once service providers offer more affordable connectivity.
