Will the Palm Centro be the Last Smartphone From Palm?

Now that a marketing picture of the Palm Centro (first rumored as the Treo 800p) has been leaked online, we finally have an official and high-resolution glimpse of the newest smartphone from Ed Colligan and the boys.

Now it's even more obvious that, in an effort to change the dated Treo form factor, Palm has come up with something that looks like its competitors. But even that would be alright, if it indicates that Palm is more willing to provide a more mainstream mobile experience for customers.

In many ways, the palm centro represents the last smartphone from Palm. It could be the last smartphone that finally leaves the Treo behind, and symbolize Palm's willingness to step up and match its game with competitors. Or, it could be the last smartphone from Palm that turns off the last of its loyal users, spelling doom for a company with such a celebrated history in smartphones and PDAs.

Thanks to Brighthand for the pic.
