Yeah, the demands of constant connectivity may be too much nowadays, but smartphones and PDA phones are still communication devices, and they can literally be a life saver.
Just ask tanya Rider, an American who recently went missing last week when her car apparently went off the highway. After 8 days, rescuers were able to find her-by tracking the signals emanating from her cell phone.
So, keep your mobile or handheld juiced up and near you at all times. What's the point of spending a little money on a gadget when it's nowhere to be found when you actually need it?
