Watch Out: Mobile TV and Radio May Make Your Smartphone Vulnerable
Nov 5, 2006

Ollie Whitehouse writes on the symantec Security Response Weblog writes that DAB-IP may open your mobile to attacks. What's DAB-IP, you ask? Digital Audio Broadcasting IP allows service providers to stream video and radio content to supported smartphones. An example of this is Virgin Mobile and the Lobster 700 TV.
Whitehouse is particularly concerned about "a situation where you could conceivably 'broadcast' exploits to a geographic area." Hopefully, the people over at Virgin Mobile are aware of the potential vulnerabilities listed by the writer.
Thanks to Geekzone for the heads-up.

@Cary: What do you mean?
@Richi: I’m not entirely sure how DAB works. How are they able to stream video over cellular networks?
