TyTN Coming to Asia as Dopod 838 Pro
Now that the HTC TyTN has debuted in Europe as O2's XDA Trion, HTC is now releasing it in Asia. Continuing its naming shell-game, which has confused industry insiders, the manufacturer has released the TyTN under the Dopod imprint as the Dopod 838 Pro. CNET Asia carries a review of the PDA Phone.
The multi-faceted 838 Pro works on UMTS networks, boasts a complete connectivity suite (quad-band GSM capability, infrared, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and HSDPA), and is supported by a powerful 400 Mhz Samsung processor. A QWERTY keyboard slides out from underneath the QVGA (240×320) screen.
By far the biggest complaint about the HTC TyTN, or Dopod 838 Pro, or XDA Trion, or whatever, is its size. Will the soon to be released Sony Ericsson P990, a similarly full-featured smartphone in a much smaller package, give HTC's flagship a run for its money?
