Yes yes, we know the Treo 680 has a lot in common with its older brother. But there are some differences:
- New Button Layout. The tweaks are really slight, but the 680's key layout makes a lot more sense and is easier-to-use.
- Lighter and Thinner. On paper it isn't noticeable, but the 680's thinner (20.3 vs. 23 mm) and lighter (157 vs. 178 grams) profile makes it an easier smartphone to handle.
- Somewhat Improved Connectivity. It still doesn't have Wi-Fi, but the 680 is EDGE-capable, while the 650 isn't.
- More Memory. The 680 has around three times the memory of the 650's. 64 vs. 24MB.
- Software Features. Aside from the tweaked phone interface, the 680 comes with pre-installed with the Voice Memo and Pocket tunes apps. A useful addition is the "Ignore with Text" function, which allows you to immediately send an SMS to your contact explaining why you rejected his call.
Need I mention themissing antenna? Then again, there's also that less powerful battery. At least Palm fixed that.

The treo 680 is not a much improvement over 650. Of course the most noticable is the missing antenna. The treo 650 does have EDGE and is capable of 6 hours of talk time while the 680 only has 4 hours. If you already have treo 650, switching to treo 680 is not really an upgrade. Get the treo 750.

Very true Free Cell Phone Info. But if and when I get the 680, it'll be the first Treo I'll ever buy. I also forgot to mention that you can edit desktop Microsoft Office files without converting them into a proprietary format, which I find very useful.

The disappearing antenna alone is already a big improvement.
