The Smoking Treo Emoticon
This Easter Egg works on the Treo 650 or 680; on both of them, a colon immediately followed by an exclamation point (:!) in an SMS becomes a smoking smiley. Now you can invite your friends outside for a smoke via SMS! I've yet to see if this also happens on a Treo 700p, 700w, 700wx, 750v, or even the 600. Maybe you can help me out, dear readers?
Surely revealing this secret will open Palm to legal liability. After all, allowing Treo users to create smokers on their smartphones must be getting people addicted to nicotine, right? Whatever. Any client, lawyer, or judge who thinks such a case has merit (I'm looking at you, ultra-litigious USA!) must be an idiot.
Update: A user on CoolSmartphone's forums has discovered the smiley works on the 750v as well.

It looks to me like a translation that only Palm devices do, as the MS OS on an imate displays :! and not the smiley face smoking like on a treo

Designing such an emoticon is not that difficult, I guess it shouldn’t have appeared. It suggests that smoking is cool and more teenagers will fall into this trap.
