The Series 80 is Officially Dead. Long Live the E90!

Probably only Nokia Communicator and 9300 owners would know what the Symbian Series 80 is: it's the platform that powered their business-oriented smartphones. A year or so had passed since the 9300's release, and no new S80 device came out. Was this Symbian variant dead?
With the announcement of the E90, it probably is. Because even if this mobile runs on the Series 60 flavor of Symbian (version 3.1), it can practically do anything. The E90 continues the Communicators' mission, providing businessmen the tools they need to work anywhere. And apparently, Nokia thought the best way to do this was to cram every feature imaginable into one phone.
That's why the E90 boasts, among other things, a:
- Quad-band GSM and WCDMA smartphone. It will work practically anywhere in the world.
- GPS and HSDPA receiver. Lets you find out where you are and wirelessly surf the net at broadband speeds.
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Infrared. Transfer files and yet another way to access the Internet wirelessly.
- Built-in 3 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus. And a second camera for video calls.
- Back-lit QWERTY thumbboard. Easier to type in text, even at night.
Other functions include an FM radio and a media player. Amazingly, this all fits into a relatively compact 132 x 57 x 20mm (length, width, thickness) package! Does the E90 put the N95 to shame, and represent a dream come true for convergionists?
As always, GSM Arena comes through with the specs. And you can't ignore Nokia's product page.
