The Secret on the Treo 700wx's Specs is Out

Now you can properly decide for yourself if the Treo 700wx is the smartphone you want. The sprint version of the 700w has been making the blogosphere rounds lately, but only recently has gadgetsonthego.net leaked Palm's official marketing materials.

If you decide that this Windows Mobile dual-band CDMA unit is for you, expandable through an SDIO slot, powered by an XScale 312 Mhz Intel CPU, connected through Bluetooth 1.2 and IR, and that you can live with the (admittedly lacking) 1.3 megapixel camera, plus 60 MB of user memory to store your data, then by all means get it.

Release Date: The Treo 700wx will be available on August 31 to businesses, September 3 to consumers.

Update: Sprint has posted an official user guide on their website.

Sorry but despite Microsoft’s advertising, a lot of us prefer the simplicity and thousands of apps of the Palm OS.

I personally own a Treo 650, and I’m very happy with it. When I want an upgrade, it will probably be the upcoming “Nitro” based on PalmOS Garnet.

I suffer Windows’ bloat enough on the desktop to have windows also on my mobile…

We actually both agree on the superiority of the Palm OS, for the reasons you’ve provided. But I always try to provide my readers with options; as a writer for The Smart PDA, I try to keep a balanced view of the Smartphone and PDA world, and not let my prejudice or preference affect my writing.

That being said, I am worried about the problems between Palm and PalmSource (http://tinyurl.com/hzwrt). This may lead to further delays with the next-gen Garnet. What do you think?
