I recently tried out the psp slim's web browser. The portable gaming console isn't technically a smartphone or PDA, but online apps that provide basic PIM functionality have been out for two years now.
In any case, using the PSP's pre-installed browser was a decent experience that's unfortunately severely limited by the lack of a fast text-input device. The browser, a version of NetFront and provided by ACCESS co., makes full use of the gadget's large and colorful screen.
Unfortunately, inputting text was always quite a pain. It involved moving a cursor around and pressing the X button repeatedly to cycle through the available characters, kind of a like a less straightforward numeric keypad.
The PSP Slim makes it easy to look at and read websites, with its built-in WiFi. However, the complicated procedure required to input text means that interaction possibilities are minimum. It also doesn't help that the browser doesn't support the high-end Javascript that many websites today use.
