The Palm Treo 800p: Smaller, Sleeker, Commoner?
No doubt about it. If Palm Infocenter's "live spy shots" of the upcoming Palm 800p is for real, then Palm may have found a way to package the easy-to-use Palm OS in a smaller and sleeker package. Definitely a would-be relief for a former boss who needed a big handbag to carry her five Treos (two for herself, two for her man, and a test unit).

But from what I see, the supposed 800p looks like just any other smartphone or PDA phone on the market. White as a Dopod, rounded on the edges like the Nokia N95. Of course, it would help if the display was on. It may have provided a visual reminder that I was looking at a Palm gadget. Still, I can't help but feel that with this rumored 800p, Palm may be changing their look to attract the general consumer market. Which would be a little disaster if true: it would mean Palm has lost another characteristic that distinguished it from others.

In any case, for the SPEC-hungry, not that much info is available, save for a few snippets claiming that the Treo 800p will come in Palm OS Garnet and Windows Mobile, GSM and CDMA.
