The Long Wait is Over: The Treo 750v Launches in London

It's been quite a process, involving three big industry players: Palm (the manufacturer), Microsoft (for the OS), and Vodafone (the service provider). But finally, these three partners launched the Treo 750v in a press conference in London. And yes, it is called the 750v. Now that everything's official, Vodafone is less mum about details, replacing this teasing picture with shots from all angles (pictured below):

But before once again stating the specs, which I've done so many times before, know that you can download a webcast of the conference from Palm's website. It's good to see that at least one of the partners recognizes the need to throw more bones to the Internet's anticipative audience.

So hopefully, for the last time, here are the Treo 750v's specs (quoted verbatim from the product page):

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS radio, GSM bands: 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS bands: 850/1900/2100
  • Personal speakerphone, hands-free headset jack, microphone mute option, TTY/TDD compatibility, 6-way calling
  • 128MB / 60MB nonvolatile flash memory available to user
  • 300MHz Samsung processor
  • miniSD card slot
  • Removable 1200 mAH Lithium-ion, up to 4.5 hours talk time, 10 days standby
  • Operating System: Windows MobileĀ® 5.2.2 Pocket PC Phone Edition
  • 1.3 megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and video capture support, automatic light balance
  • 240 x 240 colour touchscreen with support for over 65000 colours
  • Bluetooth 1.2 wireless technology, Infrared (IR)
  • 111 mm x 58 mm x 22 mm (4.4" x 2.3" x 0.8") 154 g (5.4 ounces)
  • Built-in backlit QWERTY keyboard, 5-way navigator

According to Vodafone's website, the release is set for October 2 in the UK.

Just a Little Nitpicking, Though Instead of releasing a webcast, it would've made more sense to circulate a PowerPoint presentation, as the "webcast" is actually a slideshow with some audio.
