The iPhone's Built-in Wi-Fi: A Deal Closer?

Jimmie Geddes, editor of Gadgets on the Go, quotes a Motley Fool article that highlights the Apple iPhone's built-in Wi-Fi as the deal closer. And he agrees:
I plan on getting an iPhone for this reason alone, not skype, but WiFi. I'll get it from Cingular, get it unlocked so I can pop in my T-Mobile SIM card. I know many people are going to do the same thing I am panning on, we don't want to switch to Cingular, but we'll buy it from them outright and get it unlocked. $600 is a lot of money for a smartphone, but this smartphone runs OS X, has safari, 8GB of memory, oh and also it's a touchscreen iPod. What's not to love?
Personally, I'd get an iPhone because when it comes to gadgets, nothing beats Apple's attention to the user experience. The iPod and OS X are hardly perfect, but they're great because they're designed with layman users in mind. Even if I sometimes feel that I'm not able to maximize the hardware, that's ok, because Apple design makes everything easier for me.
In other words, if Apple reaches its iPhone sales target of 10 million units, it'll be because it appeals to the "masses," not to consummate geeks who drool over specs, benchmarks, and the like. They only care about whether everything works seamlessly, and not the specs. And let's not forget about Apple's marketing machine.
