The Idiot's Guide to Turning Your Songs into Ringtones for Your Phone

Here's something that only works on smartphones and PDA phones, since you'll need internet access from your gadget to get the job done.

MyxerTones is service that lets you upload a song from your computer and download it onto your mobile or handheld for use as a ringtone. After you send MyxerTones the song, it sends your phone an SMS with a link that allows you to download your new ringtone. This is where the aforementioned web access comes into play.

This is obviously a service for people who can't be bothered to learn how to do things on their own. Instead of learning how to manually convert a song file into a ringtone and upload it directly onto your smartphone or PDA phone, MyxerTones takes care of everything for you. All for the cost of one SMS message.

MyxterTones works with "most carriers out there (both inside and outside the US)," except with phones intentionally crippled by service providers. More incentive to go simfree!
