The Bourne Ultimatum Starred The Nokia N93i, Two Motorolas, and Carphone Warehouse

The world of The Bourne Ultimatum is a thriller
-filled with ruthlessness and outmaneuvering. And, what spy movie would be complete without gadgets?
When meeting a contact under heavy surveillance by the bad guys, Jason Bourne bought a prepaid smartphone from a Carphone Warhouse kiosk, casually slipped it onto the contact's jacket pocket, and called him from a distance. The prepaid mobile helped keep their conversation private, allowing Bourne to tell his contact how to avoid the enemy agents in the busy Waterloo station.
And speaking of enemy agents, the bad guys liberally used Nokia N93s to keep their headquarters updated via streaming video. One of them even held his with a pistol while scouting the area for Bourne. (Sounds impossible? Not according to The Nokia Blog)
Enemy agents also kept in touch via Motorola RAZRs and SLVRs. MMS messages let them receive pictures of their latest targets.
You can't help but notice these things if you're a geek, especially if you write for a blog on smartphones and PDAs. But at least the product placement-if intentional- on The Bourne Ultimatum was tastefully executed. Nothing mobile- or manufacturer-related tried to steal the show. Instead, they were presented simply as tools to get things done. Which is exactly how more people should see mobiles and handhelds.
