A recent press release from StyleTap promises something special:
StyleTap CrossPlatform is compatible with most applications written for Palm OS® devices, and enables them to now run on Symbian smartphones. This gives consumers unprecedented freedom to choose The smartphone that meets their needs without losing their investment in mobile applications and accumulated data.
In other words, StyleTap will be offering a way out for long-time Palm loyalists. They'll be able to move their can't-live-without programs to the Symbian OS, and finally have a chance to use the many decent options from Nokia and Sony Ericsson, just to name a few. Surprisingly, the PIM software built into Palm products are still quite top-notch.
CrossPlatform for the Symbian OS will be out next year, once all the kinks have been worked out of the Alpha version. For now though I can't help but wonder: is this another nail in Palm's coffin, or another incentive for them to step up and compete? CrossPlatform already does the same thing for Windows Mobile by the way. Check out their products page.
