What this means is that Sony Ericsson is serious about pushing WiMAX as a high-speed communications standard, because the wimax forum is an organization dedicated "to promoting and certifying interoperable WiMAX products." Or in layman's terms, the WiMAX forum makes sure that WiMAX products coming from company Y will work with WiMAX products coming from company Z.
This is good news for Intel. With all the press HSDPA has been receiving lately, supporters need to step up their efforts if they want WiMAX to reach critical mass. Because for any technology to make it in the world of smartphone and PDAs, it needs to attract enough users.
Maybe HSDPA's lead is too big to overtake?
