Looks like Smaato's focus on mobile advertising has literally finally paid off. According to the official press release, the company has acquired $3.5 million:

San Mateo, California - January 18, 2008 - Smaato, a pioneering provider of mobile advertising platform technology announced that it has closed a $ 3.5 million financing round. Smaato was successful in attracting prominent smart angel investors from international media, advertising, mobile and the financial community. Silicon Valley based legal firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati advised on the funding and participated with an investment.

It also look slike Smaato has done a great job of marketing itself to the right people, as this is perhaps only the third story of the company that has gained some publicity. In any case, the new funding is definitely great news for a company that promises relevant advertising bundled with mobile content.
