Skype now available for Android OS

Good news for T-Mobile G1 users as Skype has recently announced a lite version of its popular IM/VOIP application for the Android OS. T-Mobile G1 users can download the beta version of the mobile client by visiting the Android Market.
The mobile client will offer the following features as mentioned in the official press release:
Make Skype-to-Skype calls to other Skype users anywhere in the world.
Send/receive instant messages to/from individuals or groups.
Make Skype calls at low rates to people on landline or mobile phones.
Receive calls to your online personal phone number on Skype.
See when your Skype contacts are online/available to chat.
Skype has also announced that its mobile client is compatible with more than 100 Java based handsets from top mobile manufacturers including LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. Users can download the Lite client directly on their handsets by visiting the following link: www.skype.com/m.
