Here's a really exciting prospect: 60 gigabytes of space that's easily available to your smartphone or PDA:
The Seagate D.A.V.E. [Digital Audio and Video Experience] mobile platform measures just 2.71 x 3.54 x .63 inches (65 x 90 x 16 mm) and weighs a mere 3.7 ounces (106 grams). It's the perfect size for slipping into a purse, backpack or pocket after connecting wirelessly to the mobile entertainment system of choice.
DAVE is a potential game changer, because it smashes the current data capacity limitations imposed by the compact size of portable gadgets.
Seagate designed DAVE to connect to smartphones and PDAs through Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi. This means that for the whole concept to become effective (msmobiles.com claims that it's " available in its final form and is coming soon to the market"), the average battery life of gadgets has to drastically improve. One also wonders if any special device-specific software is needed to interact properly with the wireless hard disk.
