Samsung has recently announced a touchscreen phone known as "Blue Earth", which is dedicated towards preserving the environment. It is the first ever mobile device that features a solar cell on the backside, which means that it can be charged using solar power.
It is made of evironment friendly plastic known as PCM that is made from water bottles. Both the handset and charger are made free of harmful substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants, Beryllium and Phthalate. It also features an "Eco mode", which adjusts screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth to save energy.
The Samsung Blue Earth will be available in the UK in the 2nd half of 2009.
