Samsung announces 1GHz ARM CORTEX Processor

We all know that devices like the Toshiba TG01 that use Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon processor have already started shipping in the market. Well Samsung didn't want to be left behind as it has recently announced a new Cortex-A8 mobile processor codenamed as Hummingbird, which is capable of running at a top speed of 1GHz. In addition to high speed processing, the new processor is highly energy efficient as it is built on a low-leakage process technology making it extremely suitable for mobile devices.
The previous version of Cortex-A8 being used in many Samsung devices runs at 600MHz and is capable of video recording at 720p. The new Cortex-A8 processor on the other hand will be capable of high definition video recording at 1080p. This is definitely interesting news as with the release of the Hummingbird, we will get to witness more powerful and exciting devices rolling into the market.
