A good way to use smartphones and PDAs is to store an ebook on it. That way, favorite texts will always be at hand. And searching through a virtual book is faster than flipping through the pages of a real one.

And a favorite of many are Holy Scriptures. Since these have been encoded by dedicated souls, you're bound to find them online. Some of them are free, ready for installing on your mobile or handheld. Others come at a price, while the rest need some conversion into a proprietary format. So without further ado, here are some links to get your started:

Olive Tree Bible Software (Proprietary). Relatively expensive, but easier to browse than these text only versions.

The Koran (Qur'an) (Mobipocket) . Goes for only $4, Mobipocket reader and text.

The Rig Veda (Adobe, Microsoft). Available at $9.99 in Adobe and Microsoft Readerlinks formats.

Others (HTML) I don't mean to dismiss other religions, but this page contains HTML versions of many Holy Scriptures--which are relatively easy to convert into mobile ebook formats.

Surely there are other resources out there. Remember, search engines are you best friend! Try "[book name] PDA" or "[book name] ebook."
