In my not-so-humble opinion, picasa owns iPhoto. The free download from Google does a great job of organizing photo collections, and even features some rudimentary editing tools that allow a little visual tweaking. Picasa is also packaged with an online component, Picasa Web Albums, which is Google's answer to Flickr. Apparently, Picasa Web Albums is now optimized for the iPhone.
But Google shouldn't stop there. If and when third-party apps do become legit for the iPhone, I'm sure that a Picasa built to handle photos on the iPhone itself would do a better job than the pre-installed photo manager. And I'm sure the same can become true for other mobile platforms like Windows Mobile and Symbian.
