Sorry ThreadSMS, Nokia's new Conversation threatens to make you obsolete. If only because they know how to maximize the platform they're known for.
Conversation also organizes SMS messages by contacts, meaning the user can browse through his messages like they do on chat. Or, dare I say it, the minutes of a conversation. It even lets the user browse through their messages by contact.
At least Nokia's free offering is in the beta stage, and doesn't list the complete messages in a conversation. This means that the user has to open an individual message to read it in its entirety.
You can download Nokia Conversation here. Thanks to All About Symbian for the screenshots.

Downsides are that it only runs on WM 5.0 or better and the license needs to be activated.
Otherwise, a nice simple application which is not so hot on graphics and presentation but has good functionality/setup opions.
