Never Confuse Your Smartphone and Remote Again

My mom may have a Nokia 6270, which is a decently-powerful Symbian smartphone, but she's still a bit illiterate about tech. She once used a remote to switch channels, and nothing was happening. After expressing a grumbling her dissatisfaction, she continued pressing on the buttons forcefully–until she realized she was aiming her cellphone towards the TV.
Perhaps next year she won't confuse the two, if AT&T's new service catches on. The scheme involves Cingular smartphone users managing their Homezone account over the Internet, scheduling and deleting recordings on their digital video recorders (DVRs) as they see fit. Which means this remote control works even when it's not in front of the boob tube.
Hopefully, the service won't prove as hard to use or program as the VCRs of old. For my mom's sake.
