My First Mobile Blog Post

Amazingly, for someone who writes about smartphones and PDAs on a regular basis, this is my first post written on a mobile device (saving it as a Word file on a pre-installed version of Documents To Go). Of course, typing on the Treo 680's thumboard will never match the speed of a desktop keyboard, but it's nice to be able to expound on ideas wherever I am, instead of waiting to access a computer.
I haven't extensively used the QWERTY keyboards of other gadgets, but I feel that the Treo's design strikes a good balance between portability and usability. The decently-sized keys don't take up much space, but are still big enough for large thumbs like mine. Only half an hour was needed to get used to things, before I started tapping away like crazy.
It was easy enough to send this post to my laptop for publishing on The Smart PDA (and of course, write the last two paragraphs). Unfortunately, this highlights the continuing lack of Wi-Fi on the Treo. The price of surfing via GPRS (local operators are skipping EDGE and going straight to HSDPA) isn't reasonable enough for regular use, so I decided to wait until I got home. It's a limit on a truly mobile lifestyle, wouldn't you agree?
