Multi-Million Dollar Proof of Nokia's Continued Involvement in the US Market

Some people may think the US doesn't figure in Nokia's future plans, especially since Windows Mobile continues to grow its market share in North America. But when you look at the Finnish company's investments in the so-called City of Angels, you'll see that they're in for the long haul.

The Staples Center is one of the biggest sports arena in the world, but it's actually the start for a planned commercial district being developed to revive downtown Los Angeles. And Nokia will shoulder the cost of at least two developments: the Nokia Theatre and the Nokia plaza. Both are a 7,000-seat theater and 40,000 square feet of open space respectively, and will let Nokia market its vision of media broadcasting to the American public.

The entire district's development cost is over a billion dollars. Surely Nokia significant involvement in it means they're very interested in maintaining, and of course growing, their presence in the US?
