Motorola Hopes Smartphone Vending Machines Will Click

Selling phones online is so last year, and Motorola is trying out a new approach. According to the Associated Press, the manufacturer is installing around 24 "Instantmotos" in various malls and airports around the US.
These machines are sure to attract at least curiosity; they're at least three times bigger than your average vending machine. Motorola will only expand this pilot program depending on how well it does. Even high-end models like the RAZR and Q will be available, and customers will choose the model, accessories, and even color through a touch-screen.
Will It Work? Personally, I think Motorola may have something going on here. Since vending machines are relatively cheap to operate, the purchase of even one unit a month will make money for Motorola. I guess an important consideration is security; phones cost a lot more than canned sodas, and any thief able to break open the machine will hit paydirt.
