As more service operators are providing their subscribers with mobile broadband access, perhaps manufacturers should start providing more built-in storage and higher capacity memory cards. With such fast download speeds on smartphones and PDAs, users will surely download bigger files.
Especially since BitTorrent creator Bram Cohen has some interesting things to say about where the file-sharing protocol might be headed:
Moving forward behind the scenes, we will continue to develop µTorrent and will be using the codebase in other applications, especially ones where a fast, lightweight implementation is more suitable, such as...on TVs, cell phones, and other non-PC platforms. [emphasis mine]
BitTorrent as you may know allows the relatively fast distribution of massive files, because everyone downloading them basically share the load. The animated picture on the top of this post provides a good illustration of this process.
Thanks to Mobile Tracker for the heads up.
