Leonardo Molina was under the knife due to appendicitis. And as luck would have it, the operating room lost power:
"The generator, which should have been working correctly, didn't work. The surgeons and anaesthetists were in the dark... A family member got some cell phones together from people in the hallway and took them in to provide light," said a spokesperson.
This quirky (and potentially fatal) news item shows that the manufacturers' R&D efforts can have great side effects. Namely, the increasing brightness of smartphone and PDA displays, and their lessening power consumption.
