Introducing the HP iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger
Feb 12, 2007

iPAQs have always looked like PDAs. But that's about the change, with the new HP iPAQ 500 Voice Messenger.
It isn't out yet (expected release is Q2 in the US), but the iPAQ 500 reminds me more of a Nokia than the iPAQ 6945. The details are sketchy, but Brighthand says this smartphone will work on GSM networks, and supports EDGE. And it will run on windows mobile 6, Microsoft's latest mobile OS.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Like many other Windows Mobile devices, the iPAQ 500 has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and an integrated 1.3 megapixel camera.
BusinessWeek has more info on this development.

As I wrote about in my blog on the phone, the great thing about the iPaq 500 is you can access your e-mail by voice command, have the phone read the e-mail to you, and dictate a response that the phone sends out as a normal written e-mail.
