As a freelance writer, I try to learn everything about the languages I know. And when I come across new words, dictionary programs for the smartphone or PDA prove very useful.

I'm not known for my memory, and that unfortunately means any new terms I find are lost by the time I reach your typical paper dictionary (usually hours later). But, with a program like Mobile System's MSDict, which I last used on a re-branded Palm V, I was able to look up the word's meaning immediately.

Seeing the definitions right away actually helped me remember what I learned better. Not to mention I was able to use it in my writing a lot sooner.
