I Might Be Too Old Fashioned for 3D Movies or Video Advertising
I've managed to live my whole life up until now without planning of seeing Avatar – or other upcoming 3D movie for that matter. (Okay, I confess… There are a couple of rides in Gatlinburg that incorporate 3D movies into the experience, but they were only four or five minutes long and didn't have much of a plot.)
I use my PDA just for calls or to read my emails, but I know that you can do so much more. I also see more video advertising than ever on blogs or other internet platforms. It is amazing that you can see all the details on such a small PDA display.
Now back to the 3D thing, call me old fashioned, but I still usually like the book more than the movie. (You do remember what a book is, don't you?) For example, I read Lord of the Rings thirty or forty years before they made the movie. Don't get me wrong; I love movies – Brave Heart, Apocalypse Now, Gladiator, A Few Good Men. Throw in a few Steven Seagal movies. You get the idea. But how will 3D translate into home DVD sales? I'm not sure I want to feel like Steven Seagal is loose in my living room.
I was surprised to learn recently that the 3D movie has been around for over a century – since the 1890's. Maybe I just like having something left to my imagination. So maybe it's not about being old fashioned…
