Following poor sales of the Lobster 700TV and "a review of its wholesale solutions" by BT, the BT Movio system providing the TV channels to the Lobster 700TV will shut down. The only saving grace is that DAB radio will still work on the device. :(
I can understand their sadness, since the Lobster's failure means that the adoption of Mobile TV has been delayed at best, and will never find any takers at worst.
Maybe this is a perfect example of how physical realities make certain things impossible. Despite the multiple talents of smartphones and PDAs, their relatively small size still limits what they can do. Just like how BT Movio's Mobile TV service failed to gain popularity because the Lobster TV's screen size makes it hard to watch videos.
