It's been five months since .mobi domains became available for people to buy. And amazingly, over 400,000 have been purchased. That's according to dotMobi's press release.

Perhaps this is dotMobi's reward for facilitating the domain purchase process, and for providing customers with easy ways to build a mobile website. The big money behind the entire operation may have also helped. Hopefully, dotMobi's recent milestone will help further establish the mobile web.

So if you're considering putting up a mobile website, perhaps it's best to register that domain. Because you never know, someone may have purchased thesmartpdafan.mobi already. Or even ilovethesmartpda.mobi.
