German Manufacturer Hopes to Kill Nokia's Communicator with Linux-Powered Device

Cleverly-named German phone Maker Road (Remote Office Access Device) has started displaying specifications for the handyPC S101 on its website. The device further blurs the distinction between a PDA and Smartphone, much like Nokia's Communicators. So it's no surprise that they'll be the S101's primary competitors.

When closed, the S101 depends on a 102×65 black-and-white screen to provide info. Open it up, and a 640×240 color display greets you, right above a QWERTZ keyboard. Connectivity and Expansion abound: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and infrared for wireless, aside from a mini-USB socket, an SD card slot,
