First Impressions: Palm Treo 680

To all smartphones and PDAs out there: if you want to have a good first impression, be responsive. Nothing stokes a user's ego more than a gadget that responds to commands quickly. Two examples are the Nokia 5500 and Samsung SGH-Z560, and it seems the Palm Treo 680 is generally responsive too.

The newest Treo is lighter, thinner than the 650, is definitely more compact thanks to a disappearing antenna. Changing SIMs requires removing the battery and saying goodbye to existing data (unless you've backed it all up of course). Documents To Go thankfully uses actual desktop files; no troublesome conversion.

There were some slowdowns, slight when opening the SMS app (gah!) and severe when setting the time (forgivable). The impression left after a one night-stand with the Treo 680? Nothing new, but at least everything worked as advertised.
