Is your iPhone locked?

One of the most frustrating parts of the cell phone scene is how hard it is to take your Blackberry with you if you leave AT&T, or your Palm Pre to another carrier when you leave Sprint. You fall in love with your phone. It does what you want it to do. Now you have to switch phones, just because you want to switch carriers.

One answer is unlocked cell phones. Locked cell phones are part of the industry's business model. They give you the phone (or sell it to you for much less than it's worth) with the idea in mind that in order to actually use it you will have to buy service from them.

It's not that difficult to find unlocked cell phones if you know where to look. unlocked GSM cell phones and iPhone unlocked are available on the web. They cost a little more, but they may be worth it if you need the ability to move from carrier to carrier.
