FCC Approval of N92 Signifies US Release
Aug 6, 2006
Months after it was announced last November, the Nokia N92 has gained FCC approval. The Symbian Smartphone allows users to watch video broadcasted by service providers.
The manufacturer expects the US release to be later this year. But DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting – Handheld), the standard that allows transmission of videos to mobile phones, is still in the testing phase. Will Nokia release the N92 too early, before DVB-H becomes widespread enough for usefulness?
Expect the smartphone to cost around $766. Here are some of its specs:
- A 2.8" QVGA (320×240) 16 million-color screen.
- 2-megapixel camera>
- Integrated FM tuner.
- Listen to sound through stereo speakers, or a headset.
- 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, infrared, USB 2.0 connectivity
