European Union Will Cut Mobile Roaming Rates Next Month

If you live in a member country of the European Union, and have a long road trip planned in a few weeks, you're in luck. The EU is cutting mobile roaming rates. Anyone calling abroad from within member countries will enjoy roaming costs ranging from a quarter to a fifth of the present rates. The EU says it will implement the new system by the end of the month:
"Today is a good day for Europe's consumers, because we hope that we will get the roaming thing finally off the table … so that European consumers will be able to telephone cheaply during the holidays," German Economy Minister Michael Glos told reporters.
Surely great news for European smartphone or PDA phone users, as it'll be cheaper to stay in touch while moving around the continent.
