It seems simple enough: plug-in the SplashPad, then place your gadgets on top. Through "electromagnetic induction," all devices on the pad will recharge their batteries.
So how is the power transmitted? Well as long as the device has a SplashPad power receiver, which theoretically could be built-in, or a SplashPad add-on is attached, electromagnetic induction will work its magic.
What remains to be seen is if SplashPad will be able to convince manufacturers to integrate the technology into mobile devices, especially smartphones and PDAs, and if the add-ons they'll come up with aren't too bulky. It'd be great to see this system work though; imagine coming home from a long day, and simply placing your smartphone or PDA on the pad.
The Beginning?Only having to plug-in every so often is what prevents true mobility. Hopefully, the SplashPad is the beginning of our liberation from power cords!
Why no Links? Whoops! When I originally published this post, there were no links! My bad, sorry 'bout that. :D
