Just received a press release from the guys behind QuiText, an SMS service that sends motivational text messages to help smokers quit:
QuiText is excited to announce the extension of it's quit smoking text message service to all the countries of Europe as from today. Expanded coverage from 5 to over 50 countries means that the mobile quit smoking support can now be sent over more than 180 mobile networks and can reach of approximately 200 million smokers.
Smoking is quite addicting. I know this because I'm one myself, and to be honest I don't think motivational messages are that effective. Smoking bans work better, because they make life hard for smokers and reduce the incentive of a quick Puff. There are even side benefits. Just ask Orange, they're enjoying more profits because of a recent UK smoking ban.
