Behind the Name is HTC

About two weeks ago, Orange announced the release of five new phones, one from Samsung and four from HTC. the Samsung "Blackjack" garnered the most attention, thanks to its thin profile and apparent rich feature set, but it's also interesting to consider how much presence HTC commands in today's smartphone and PDA-phone market.
The Taiwanese manufacturer got its big break when Microsoft made it a partner for Windows Mobile development. Now, many major service operators offer HTC devices, although under different names. It's become quite a challenge to maintain a list of HTC's various models and their aliases, especially as new devices are announced. This is what GSM Arena concedes.

The letters “HTC” actually stand for a plain name, IMHO. “High-Tech Computer”

Oh, ic… btw, is that the name of the company or what? so they make the ppcs that are branded differently? And is it the company itself that brands it differently or is it companies who resell them that do so?
this is so confusing…. ~~

Yep, HTC is the name of a corporation in Taiwan that manufactures Windows Mobile Smartphones and PDAs.
What they do is send their units to service operators around the world; they’re the ones who brand these devices differently.
Yes, it can be very confusing indeed. Luckily though, many websites, including this one, make a genuine effort to sort it out for you.
Hope this answers all your questions.
