Amazon Offers Treo 750 for $99.99

In a move reminiscent of the Motorola Q, Amazon is offering the Treo 750v for only $99. Just under a hundred US dollars for a full-featured palm smartphone that usually goes for $649 unsubsidized.

Then again, to enjoy this huge discount, you need to commit to a two-year contract from Cingular. There's more fine print: fail to meet some conditions for a period of 181 days, and you'll have to pay Amazon $250. Not to mention you'll actually be paying $149 and wait for the extra $50 to return as a rebate.

It doesn't sound so bad though, especially when you're supposed to commit to a two-year plan only after thinking things through.

Well, given the rep of rebates (people tell me it’s notoriously hard to collect them), I’d peg the real price of this promo to $150.
